LOUIS VUITTON - EARLY LARGE LUGGAGE TRUNK. A large early Louis Vuitton trunk circa 1872-1888, the exterior with Rayee canvas with vertical coloured bands and with horizontal wooden battons and metal corners. With brass lock plate and catches, handles to each side and with original luggage labels and the letter 'B' on each side. The interior with it's original label, 'Louis Vuitton, London, Paris, N27606', also with writing to the base, missing it's internal tray. The top has various hand writing and a few worm holes in places. Various damages and in need of extensive repairs. 100cms across, 55cms deep, 58.5cms high. *CR Sadly in very poor condition, the exterior has various evidence of woodworm (which we have now treated) which is most evident on the front to the wooden battons where parts are missing, and a little to the sides and top. The base has been wet resulting in rot to the inside and bottom of the trunk, underneath some of the battens are rotten/missing, leather straps are missing from the front, the remains of the interior is also in poor condition with stains, rips to the material, and it is missing it's tray. It's a lovely example but needs extensive repairs and restoration.
