MOORCROFT15cm VASE (Shape No 65/6) "QUEENS CHOICE BERRY" (Trial Piece ,Dated 8.2.24) By Designer Emma Bossons FRSA. R.R.P. £595.00
(Queen’s Choice with its succulent grapes, ripe figs and peaches was inspired by Titania’s words from the Bard of Avon’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’. One of Moorcroft greatest designs of all time, the designer now invites us to consider William Shakespeare’s prose and verse had the midsummer dream taken place under autumn’s crisp fingers. Evocatively, peaches now turn from shades of pinkish orange to pumpkin-yellow and leaves dance and unravel in old gold, bright saffron, copper-rose and walnut. In terms of Moorcroft’s linework, this is still Queen’s Choice, though Emma has added in some succulent blackberries for an added autumnal feel. Regarding literature, and Moorcroft artistry, it may be said we are now out of a Midsummer Night’s Dream and into a place where peaches ferment in pickling jars and colours take flight, flap, and twist in autumnal winds of might and glory.)
