£600
A RUSSIAN TANKARD, post 1876, 84 standard, of swept cylindrical form chased with six vacant oval bosses linked by panels of scrolling foliage on a cannetille type ground enclosing winged cherub masks, the hinged low domed cover centrally engraved "M" and with pine cone thumb-piece, the scroll handle with bearded mask, stamped 84/St George & the Dragon/IIT/4778/84/U, 7 1/2" high over thumbpiece, 15ozs (Est. plus 21% premium inc. VAT)
Whilst the circular "hinge" fits (lacks pin to hold it together) when open, closed the cover does not fit and so some adjustment is required - possibly the scrolled thumb-piece on top has been pushed forward into the cover and dented?? One cherub mask on cover pushed in. Handle good. No splits or holes - body generally good. Foot rim squashed and dented nearly all the way around so does not sit flat
