A Japanese Boy's festival armour, Taisho or Showa period, including a helmet with O-kuwagata (horns of a big stag beetle shaped) maedate, Suji-kabuto type, with three-layer shiroko and Fukigaeshi finished with intricate lacing and fabric, Mempo (face guard), Sode (arms) and Kosode (sleeves), Kote (arm guard), Kusazuri (lower body protection belt), Hidate (thigh guard) and Suneate (shin guard), in lacquer box, Karabitsu, with inscription Mae to the front

A custom-made high quality ensemble that woud have been commisisoned by a wealthy family for the Boy's Day display (Tango so sekku festival, on May 5th)
