A FINE EDO PERIOD JAPANESE TANEGASHIMA MATCHLOCK MUSKET. With a 91cm octagonal iron barrel inlaid with a large gilt butterfly, and with incised Japanese text to either side, fitted with moulded foresight and block rear-sight. The action with a large external main spring, hand-cocked serpentine match-holder and ball trigger. 128cm overall *Condition: Light pitting to the barrel, slight scuffing to timber.
