S.S "City of Baroda". 1943 (Mar 10/11) Covers (2) and an undated newspaper wrapper from G.B to South Africa handstamped violet "RECEIV'D DAMAGED / BY SEA WATER" or bilingual "DAMAGED BY SEA WATER", the wrapper with black "DAMAGED BY SEA-WATER", two with June 6/7 arrival cachet or c.d.s. The "City of Baroda" was torpedoed off Luderitz on April 2nd and abandoned. The ship beached and broke in two, the mail and some cargo salvaged before the vessel disappeared by April 26th. (3).
