A large and showy mustard silk fan c1890’s, painted with bluebirds in flight and the words “Nous revenons” (we’re returning), the monture of sturdy wood, painted black, guard approx. 34.5cm; together with a black wood fan, the monture carved and heavily pierced with floral designs, mounted with a silk leaf in vibrant violet, edged with black machine lace, finely painted with daisies and corn sheafs, meandering leaves from a climbing plant with berries meandering to the right, the pastel colours emphasized with splashes of gold, the verso with black glazed cotton, guard approx. 32 cm (2)
The first fan is in good strong condition with slight scratching to the black paint. The second fan is in good strong condition.
