Great Britain: Coatham Victoria Pier Company Ltd., £5 share, 1872, #1725, ornate border, black, printed by Waterlow & Sons, extremely fine. This 1800 foot structure near Redcar, Yorkshire, was opened in 1875 with 2 large pavilions. In 1898 a ship was driven through the pier during a storm and the end section was demolished by the company which was forced into liquidation the following year. The pier was sold for scrap soon afer leaving just the roller skating rink, pavillion and entrance kiosks. These later demolished. GVF and rare.
