Star Lot: Tom Scott R.S.A. (Scottish b. 1854 - d. 1927). Two fabulous original oil on board landscape paintings by renowned Scottish landscape painter Tom Scott. Both feature babbling streams in his beloved borderlands. Scott is a popular artist at auction with a large watercolour of his fetching £5,750 at Christies and smaller painting fetching into the late hundreds. These two study paintings would look wonderful professionally framed. Provenance: from a home owned by the Guinness family.

Tom Scott was a Scottish painter known for his watercolors of Selkirk and the Scottish borderlands (a large rural area south of Edinburgh on the border with England). He was dedicated to depicting the mountainous landscapes, unique architecture, and cultural history of the area. Born on October 12, 1854 in Selkirk, United Kingdom, the artist remained around the Scottish Borders throughout his life. Scott's work was acclaimed during his life, and he exhibited over 160 works at the Royal Scottish Academy over the course of 50 years. He died in 1927 in Selkirk, United Kingdom.
