PACKETS FAME); 2 Mar. 1694 manuscript Naval Warrant (central toned fold foolishly reinforced with 'magic' sellotape - needs to be removed asap) for "300 Mast hoops" and mentioning "Ordinary Deale" (wooden planks) to be supplied after seeking tenders; signed by 6 different senior officials of the Navy Office including pioneer Royal Marine "[Sir] Clowd[esley]. Shovell" (famously shipwrecked on the Scilly Isles in 1707; signature crossed by the crease), as well as "E[dmund] Dummer", famous in later life as the man who set up the 1705-11 "Dummer Packet" service for mails between GB and the West Indies, including Jamaica.
