A 19th century Swiss cylinder music box, in a walnut and kingwood cross banded case, with 43 tooth cylinder (missing one tooth), and three bells with butterfly hammers, playing eight airs, cylinder 15.5cm long, case 48cm wide, 28cm deep, 18.5cm high. Condition - fair to good.
Case repolished; top with old surface scratches, not serious; one inlaid boxwood string at right-hand side lifting; one 4cm section of inlaid stringing missing lower-left; the top with front-left corner chipped and coloured-in; lock with key; top hinges seem to have been moved, see 11th image. Right-hand end-tooth missing; mechanism not believed to have been overhauled; good tone; eight airs include much-loved Daisy Bell. Bearing to left of cylinder stamped 63 above 38.
