Wight's military career and death at the Battle of Bemis Heights (2nd Battle of Saratoga). 1755/6 pair of EL signed by Wight's patron (Lord) Hopetoun; 1756 pair letters from Wight; 1766-8 papers about his proposed promotion; c.1778 copies (one incomplete) of two of Wight's contemporaries mentioning his death, "He was killed on the unlucky 7th of this month. He then commanded the whole of our Grenadiers after Major Acland was wounded; he rallied his men when hard pressed and led them on three times, charged the enemy, till at last he received 6 or 7 shot all at once and through both his head & body ...".
