1878-80 Afghanistan Medal Ahmed Khel clasp to 3405 **Br C. Welch 6/11th R.A., 1854 India GSM Burma 1885-7 clasp to 24*** (24465) *** (Sjt) C. Welsh No 6 By 1st Bde ***** ***, KGV Army Meritorious Service Medal to Sjt C. Welch R.A. and QV Army LSGC (small letter reverse) engraved to 24**5 Sergt C. Welch R.A., QV medals all polished, contact marks and details partly worn away at 3 and 9 o'clocks thus fair to fine, MSM extremely fine.
With 11 copied pages of service record and IGSM roll, Charles Welch was born in Taunton, enlisted in 21st Bde 5/5/71 aged 17, arrived India 20/1/78, served in Afghanistan 17/12/78 to 24/8/80, promoted Sgt 16/11/85, IGSM roll shows unit as No 6 Battery 1st Brigade Southern Division and incorrect spelling of surname, returned to UK 29/4/87 and transferred to 5/1st South Irish Division, discharged after 24 years service 4/5/95.
