An attractive pair of early 18th century steel barrelled flintlock blunderbuss pistols, restocked probably in the late 18th century, slightly swamped 2 stage barrels 6¾"; rounded banana shaped locks with swan neck cocks and unbridled frizzens, the plates with strawberry leaf engraving and signed "L. BRAINE"; nicely figured walnut fullstocks with brass mounts, including short spurred butt caps (modified from long spurred) with mask finials; one with baluster ramrod pipe, the other with later plain type. GWO & clean condition. A pleasing pair of pistols. The only Braine that we can fine listed in John Braine of London c 1715-1740. £850-1000
