James Hargreaves Morton (British 1881-1918) An Impressionist View Of Porthminster Beach - St. Ives - With Sailing Boats Beyond And The Artists Four Sisters On The Beach In pastels. Image size 13'' x 20'' (33 cm x 50 cm), framed size 20'' x 28'' (50 cm x 70 cm). Signed lower left in pencil ''Morton'' and housed in original gilt frame. First exhibited at the Walker Gallery Liverpool in 1913. Artists handwritten exhibition label verso with the title - original price and home address (30 Sudell Road - Darwen) - plus gallery label for Richard Haworth of Blackburn. Tragically killed in action - just 5 days before the end of the First World War - James Hargreaves Morton was named by Lancashire Life Magazine as one of the twenty most important Lancashire artists of all time. In excellent condition all round.
