This picture was commissioned as a tribute to Commander Nigel 'Sharkey' Ward (1944-2024), a little-known hero of the Falklands War. He was appointed to 801 NAS which embarked in the carrier Invincible during the Falklands War. He flew more than 60 combat missions, shot down three of the eight enemy aircraft destroyed by 801 NAS, and deterred many enemy attacks, without loss. He was awarded a DSC. A copy of his obituary accompanies this lot.
