A rare and good English iron spiral candlestick, with turned oak base, probably Penrith, Cumbria, circa 1800 or possibly earlier

Having a long spiral socket formed from a band of iron, with hook terminal, and a traveller with flat-rounded ends, the well-patinated circular and ring-turned domed base with waisted stem, height 25.5cm

Provenance: Former Fitzgerald Collection, label to underside

The majority of this type of spiral form candlestick are of French origin, it is rare to find an English example
