Property of a lady - the group of five medals of Sir George Wilfred Turner KCB KBE (1896-1974), comprising Knight Commander of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Civil Division, breast star and neck badge, in Garrard & Co Ltd box of issue, Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of The British Empire, star and badge with riband, in Garrard & Co Ltd box of issue with paperwork, 1914-18 War Medal and Victory Medal with ribbons, and American Medal of Freedom with silver palm leaf clasp (for third time award) with ribbon; together with the corresponding dress miniatures on bar; and related ephemera (a lot). Footnote - Sir George Turner was a Civil Servant. He served in the British Army in the First World War and was twice wounded in action. Returning to the War Office after demobilisation in 1919 Turner held several posts within the Ministry of Supply before being appointed Permanent Secretary of the War Office where he served from 1949 until 1956.
