A French brass framed and brass barrelled flintlock boxlock blunderbuss pistol with spring bayonet, by Dumarest à Paris, c 1820, 10½” overall, swamped barrel 5”, with 5” spring bayonet beneath released by sliding trigger guard, and ramrod pipes on right side; the signed frame having engraved borders; with top safety catch which locks the frizzen and flared flattened walnut butt with chequered panels, silver wire inlaid decoration down the back edge, and chevron carved band around the engraved flat steel butt cap; with a replacement steel ramrod.
