The Alfa Romeo Spider was designed by Pininfarina. It was based on the Tipo Due, but heavily modified with an all new multi-link rear suspension. The front suspension and drivetrain was from the 155 saloon. A typically Italian design, with the Alfa Romeo grille with dual round headlights, and a low-slung, wedge-shaped body with a low nose and high kicked up tail. At the rear the car has a Kamm Tail giving improved aerodynamics. The Spider has a folding soft-top which completely disappears from sight under a flush fitting cover, an electric version was an option. Details included a one-piece rear lamp/foglamp/indicator strip across the rear of the body, and the minor instruments in the centre console angled towards the driver. At its launch, many journalists commented that Alfa had improved overall build quality considerably and that it came very close to equaling its German rivals.
This is a rare example of this model, and is described by the vendor as being in pristine condition throughout and with very low mileage backed up by all the MOT certificates which come with the car. The unusual colour combination of dark metallic blue with white leather MOMO interior is superb. The car has the original mohair hood, Zender sideskirts and front spoiler. The last cam belt change was in February 2015. The car is said to drive very well and is a real head turner.
