George Stainton (British, fl.1866-1890), Fishing boats off the south coast, oil on canvas, signed lower left, modern hollow frame with shot ornament, 29½ x 49½in. (75 x 125.8cm.).
*Condition: * Relined. New stretcher. Good condition, but varnish has yellowed and a few tiny paint flakes to lower left corner. Small dark pooled spot of varnish to right of sky. Patches of retouching visible throughout under UV, with one large area around the lower right corner. Some bitumenisation to the dark paint at lower left corner. Some strenghtening visible to detail on boats under UV.
