A silver topped ebony staff for "Silver Stick in Waiting" to William IV, 37" overall, the elaborately embossed top bearing crowned "W.R" above union flowers and royal motto, and with London hall mark for 1831. GC, Attached is a label with details of Clement Hill, commanding officer of the Royal Horse Guards 1823-37 and stating that the office of Silver Stick in Waiting is traditionally held by the Lt Colonel Commanding the Household Cavalry. we have since been informed that Clement Hill was the brother of Robert Hill who commanded the Royal Horse Guards at Waterloo. £500-600
