With 3 copied pages of service record, Richard Wells was born in Alton, enlisted in 58th Foot 3/12/39 aged 18, volunteered for 10th Foot 1/4/42, issued Sutlej Medal, Punjab Medal with 2 clasps, with General Franks column at the advance and relief of Lucknow, at the relief of Arjinghun 15/4/58, operations against the rebels in Jugdespore jungles 9 May to 4 June 1858, discharged 7/5/61.
