Randall Davey (American, 1887-1964) - Landscape view with buildings, oil on canvas, signed lower left, bearing indistinct pencil inscription to the stretcher and two labels from picture framers and shippers based in New York, 61 x 76 cm, framed.
Randall Davey was an American painter known for his vivid landscapes and portraits. A student of Robert Henri at the Art Students League, he was initially linked to the Ashcan School but later developed a more expressive style. In 1919, Davey moved from New York City to Santa Fe, New Mexico, where the landscape and wildlife became central to his work and his home is now a museum there. Davey’s art continues to be celebrated for its bold use of colour and connection to the American Southwest.
