A late 19th Century black basalt desk set formed with three circular ink wells with laurel leaf borders leading to a palmette motif with holes for two dip pens with a shell shaped pen tray below, unmarked, one brass cover stamped France, length 20cm, S/D.

More Information

There is an old chip to the left side which is almost hidden by the fact it is within the moulded detailing. Some wear and rubbing to the gilding with fleabites missing. Both the brass pressed covers are warped but do sit in place. Retains three glazed inkwells.
