A 19TH CENTURY MEISSEN MYTHOLOGICAL FIGURE GROUP OF JUPITER IN HIS CHARIOT, modelled after J.J. Kaendler, made in two sections and bolted together, both pieces incised '29', impressed '96' and with blue crossed sword mark, height 36cm x width 46.5cm (Condition Report: the whole piece is extremely dirty, the left hand half has extensive cracks throughout, running through the front and back of the base, especially to the area behind the chariot wheel, there is a finer crack in the clouds by his foot and into the base, Jupiter is missing the section above the hilt in his hand, chips to his crown, both eagles have sections of missing beak, the rear eagle has had the main section of raised wing broken and glued, the front eagle has a broken and glued repair to the front wing, the same eagle has been glued back on underneath the body, there are other chips to the extremities, it is not possible for us to see all damage due to what is covered by the dirt and dust)
