Condition of the painting is good. There are no obvious signs of damage and the colours are good. The frame has some cracking at the mitres, and is scratched a little.
This is certainly unlike Fred Yates’s recognised style, if by this artist it could be an earlier work, completed during his development towards what he is now known for.
The painting was purchased in Devon by the current owner, sometime during the 80’s, otherwise no further provenance.
