Born in Russia in 1892 Marevna settled in Paris in 1912, where she continued her art studies and her cicle of friends included Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, Georges Braque, Henri Matisse and Amedeo Modigliani. She experimented with cubism, influenced by Diego Rivera, the father of her daughter. She later settled in England, living at Athelhampton House in Dorset and later in Ealing. Marevna died in London in 1984.
