An Austrian pioneer’s falchion, M1862, broad, heavy blade 18”, fullered on one side and with hatchet point, steel crossguard with bulbous terminals, semi pistol shaped grips secured by 4 studs, in its leather covered scabbard with iron locket, belt stud and chape, the crossguard marked “1400” otherwise no visible marking. GC, a clean example. Plate 3 £120-140
