£3,500 - £4,000
1886-98 complete representation of QV 'SPECIMEN' stamps, 39 items, comprising 1886, 1886-87, 1889 and 1898 sets of 7, and 1889-96 set of 11, being the De La Rue record pages (cut into three pieces) with invoice dates and plate details in M/S, with additional red M/S annotations 'Ovpt plate destroyed ca 17 July 95' in the case of the 1889-96 75c and 5p. The stamps are largely arranged in rows of 5, showing the succession of changes in each value by denomination. Some perf faults as a result of separation by scissors, but a unique and wonderful display which would make a magnificent frontispiece to any collection of the stamps of Gibraltar. Ex Kayfetz, described and fully illustrated in LP 1989, pp. 83-86. SG 1s-45s
