A Ravenscroft & Willis barrister's gown - 1950s, the nametape handwritten in ink 'Rose Heilbron QC' by the celebrated lawyer.
Condition - good.
(Dame Rose Heilbron DBE (1914-2005) was, after Helena Normanton KC, the second woman to take silk. She was at the age of 34 the youngest to do so since Thomas Erskine in 1783. She was the first woman to lead the defence in a murder trial, to sit at the Old Bailey and to be appointed a Recorder. In 1974 she became the United Kingdom's second female High Court judge (after Elizabeth Lane, who had been appointed in 1965).
