A small collection of Winchcombe Pottery pieces comprising: A Double Dish with pale green ground and brown slip drawn decoration, bearing the impressed marks for Winchcombe Pottery and the stamped initials ST for Sid Tustin (who started working for the pottery at the age of 13 in 1927 and retired in 1978) (18.5cm x 12cm x 4.5cm). The second piece is a two handled casserole dish with lid in an iridescent purple glaze with manganese oxide decoration to the outside, oatmeal glaze internally, bearing the Winchcombe Pottery imprint - almost certainly by Ray Finch (Width 22cm, Height 15cm). Ray Finch was a chemist who first joined the company in 1935, but was sent away to learn about pottery, returning in 1936 at the age of 22. He was called up in 1940, and the pottery was closed. Finch, who was inspired by Shoji Hamada, a renowned Japanese potter, bought the pottery in 1946, and was succeeded by his sons, but carried on working into his 90's, dying in 2012. The third piece is a water jug in oatmeal and dark brown glaze, with wavy design. The inside glazed with a light blue/oatmeal. With pulled handle and finger-drawn spout. An impressed mark to the unglazed base is a little indistinct, but the form and pattern is Winchcombe. (H 20.5cm) Part of the Bowles Collection. (3)
