Mary Dawson Elwell SWA (English, 1874-1952) The Artist's Studio, oil on canvas, signed "M D. Holmes" and indistinctly dated lower right, framed, 17½ x 13¼in. (44.5 x 33.7cm.). *The artist was born Mary Dawson Bishop in 1874 and married George Alfred Holmes in 1896. George died in 1913 and in accord with his wishes Mary married their close friend the painter Frederick William Elwell the following year.
*Surface dirt, otherwise in good condition. Gilt frame damaged.
