Star Lot: Gerry Marjoram (b.1936) An original Gerry Marjoram (b.1936) oil on board painting titled 'Ross Castle Killarney' Features the titular landscape scene. Rendered in highly blended brushstrokes with occasional stippling effect which adds fantastic detail to the composition. Portrays a rich earthy colour palette with gentle burst of soft whites to reflect the scene. Signed and dated '1971' lower right. Housed in a wooden gilt frame. Titled with artist's details to verso.

Born in the Liberties area of Dublin, Gerry Marjoram was educated at Francis Street School and subsequently studied art at the National College of Art under Maurice MacGonigal (q.v.) and Sean Keating. Since 1970 he has exhibited frequently in Dublin and Galway, particularly with Combridges Fine Art, Dublin, the Waldock Gallery, Blackrock, and the Lavelle Gallery, which he opened in 1988 in conjunction with Eoin Lavelle, Alan Kenny (q.v.), and Tony McNally (q.v.). His work is in private and public collections worldwide, including the Irish Embassy in Prague. He presently makes numerous painting trips to Connemara and the west coast of Ireland.
