R. M. Gwynn’s copy of Leibnitz’s New Essays Concerning Human Understanding First edition of this English translation. A very good copy in slightly edge rubbed publishers green cloth, with minor fraying to lower joint. Ownership inscription R.M. Gwynn, 1905 (1877 - 1962) a celebrated Irish academic and Clergyman who played a role in the 1913 Lock Out and in whose rooms the first meeting of the Irish Citizen Army was held, from the inscription, this book was most probaby present with Jim Larkin and James Connolly in his rooms on that date in 1913. The text has sporadic underlining and marking, in Gwynn's hand.
