Antarctica 1907-09 Nimrod Expedition autograph collection
?Nimrod? Expedition. Collection of nine autographs from members of the 1907-09 Expedition to the South Pole under the leadership of Sir Ernest Shackleton, each on small piece neatly mounted on album leaves, comprising Alistair Forbes Mackay (assistant surgeon), T.W. Edgeworth David (geologist), William Roberts (cook), James Murray (biologist), Edward G.R. Evans (captain of ?Nimrod? - presumably in error as ?Nimrod' was captained by Frederick Pryce Evans on this expedition), Eric Marshall (surgeon and cartographer), Bertram Armytage (in charge of ponies), Jameson Boyd Adams (second-in-command, meteorologist), and Henry Dunlop (chief engineer of ?Nimrod'). A wonderful lot representing nine of the nineteen official members of Shackleton's second expedition, assembled by Alfred Reid, expedition manager, on behalf of a ?Miss Hatchett?, with his covering letter to her on headed ?British Antarctic Expedition 1907? notepaper, dated 8 February 1910, confirming his attempts to obtain the requested signatures.
