Lady Ottoline Morrell (British, 1873-1938), a woolwork sampler in the 17th Century style, depicting a man and women in a garden landscape with a thistle, rose and a facial sunburst, signed and dated 1913 verso, 15 by 22cm, gilt frame. Note: Lady Ottoline Morrell was a prominent English aristocrat and society hostess with influential patronage in intellectual and artistic circles. She befriended and is associated with T.S. Eliott, D.H. Lawrence, members of The Bloomsbury Group, and Augustus John to name a few. Her fling with 'Tiger', a young stonemason is said to have influenced D.H. Lawrence's novel 'Lady Chatterley's Lover'
