by Aleksandra Mikhailovna Makhalova, assay master Lev Oleks, Moscow 1893, 84 zolotnik, square form, the hinged cover opening to reveal a gilt interior, the exterior realistically engraved and decorated to simulate a small wooden cigar box, bearing a label of the Moscow cigar maker 'Laferme' and with import tax bands, additional Cyrillic text and the Russian coat of arms, engine-turned to sides and base. 9cm by 9cm, 8.5 troy ounces
