A shedplate 5A Crewe North (1935 to May 1965). This ex LNWR shed with its predominance of express passenger engines was a spotter's valhalla. Patriots, Jubilees, Royal Scots, Princesses, Coronations, and in the final years Britannias, all graced this depot. 130 locos were allocated here in the 50s and in its final months around 40 locos carried this code.
