4th Cheshire Rifle Volunteers Victorian Officer helmet A fine and scarce 1878 Home Service Pattern blue cloth helmet complete with silvered cross piece, spike and rose bosses supporting a velvet backed chin chain. To the front, a silvered helmet plate with title scroll 4th CHESHIRE RIFLE VOLUNTEERS. The interior with leather sweatband with crimson silk edging, also tailors details of Christys London. Good clean condition. 4th Cheshire (Cheshire & Derby) Rifle Vols. had L to N Companies (late 23rd Derby) at Glossop. In December 1887 by GO 181 became 4th VB Cheshire Regt.
