A RARE MARUDI PROVISIONAL:1945 (Dec) "Postage Paid/15 cents/C.A.O./MARUDI" typewritten label in violet (being an impression from the carbon paper), initialled and a clear double circle "DISTRICT OFFICE/BARHAM" purple h.s. and small part "BARHAM" c.d.s. Two clipped corners and some red staining due to removal from the original cover. Note:These labels issued by C.B. Murray the Civilian Affairs Officer at Marudi after failing to receive supplies of stamps. The Military authorities in Labuan disapproved however and removed most of the labels from the letters, replacing them with postage stamps. A rare item.
