A FINE AND RARE CHARLES II PEWTER BROAD RIM AND BOSSED DISH, ENGRAVED WITH THE ARMS OF THE WORSHIPFUL COMPANY OF BUTCHERS, DATED 1660. The rim engraved at the cardinal points with the Company Arms and three roundels of a pelican, wyvern and stag, the latter dated 1660, with gentle booge and boss base, apparently unmarked, diameter 16 5/16in, 41.5cm, rim 2 3/4in., 6.8cm, (33%)
The Arms of the Company were granted by the College of Herald in 1540. The supporters, a winged bull, refer to St. Luke, the patron saint of butchers.
