Fragments of the Battle Ensign of H.M.S. Neptune (1909), which participated in the Battle of Jutland, 1916, with a letter of provenance. (By repute: the Battle Ensign of Neptune was shot away during the Battle of Jutland, leaving fragments on the aft-superstructure. Here, they were retrieved by a man called Fiddler, who was a gun-layer in "X" turret).
