In 1996, Volvo introduced a new high performance Volvo 850 as a replacement for the hugely successful limited edition T-5R. Volvo decided there should be no direct successor to the T-5R, but due to its huge hand in improving Volvo's image and the big sales success Volvo decided to develop a new high performance model. The new car should be based on the T-5R but better! It was not limited for a start. The new car was called the Volvo 850R and came as either a saloon or Sport Wagon. The turbocharged automatic station wagon can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 7.4 seconds and reach up to 158 mph. Production of the 850R only ran between 1996–97.
This is a totally original and unmodified Volvo 850R, not a blue pipe or dump valve in sight! It comes with the super rare gorgeous original Volan wheels. Original tan alcantara/leather interior with light birch wood dash, and is a full seven seater. The car is MOT'd until 20th March 2019, and the last full major service was in December 2017 at 142,920 miles. The PCV breather system was all replaced in March 2017 at 137,647 miles. There is a sheaf of service history, the majority being Volvo main dealer or Volvo specialist. Every MOT certificate (19 in total) since its first MOT in 1999 is present. The engine is smooth and quiet, yet very very fast.
This has been the vendors daily driver, so comes with a few dings and scratches. Some lacquer peel on the wing tops. Still a comfortable, versatile fast car that belies its age.
