SPRING DRIVEN NIGHT LIGHT CLOCH. Spring driven night-light clock. Milk glass shade with Roman numerals supported on a brass column. Brass cylinder below encloses a spring driven movement with anchor escapement and brass bob pendulum turning the time indicator. Usually attributed French or Austria/ Germany ca. 1880/ 1910, later examples marked for Movado Factories, a Swiss watch makers founded in La Chaux-de-Fonds by Achille Ditesheim in 1881. In 1885 two of his brothers, Leopold and Isidore joined him as L.A.I. Ditesheim, later becoming L.A.I. Ditesheim & Frère. In 1905 they adopted the name Movado, meaning always in motion in Esperanto. Thirty hour versions made hold a small spirit lamp, are also known.
