WW1 1827 Pattern Rifle Regiment officer's sword and leather scabbard by Wilkinson Sword, blade 60% ornately etched including crown, coat of arms and GvR cypher, strung bugle, G.W. Auten within scroll, ricasso marked with Royal Warrant and Henry Wilkinson Pall Mall London in 4 lines, back of blade numbered 46762 and stamped London Made, guard with KC and strung bugle, wire and fishskin grip (1 strand of wire detached), blade with some slight discolouration, generally nearly extremely fine. With 2001 copied Wilkinson Sword letter confirming date of issue as 1915.
Geoffrey William Auten was commissioned in 21st London Regt (1st Surrey Rifles) 23/9/14, transferred to Welsh Regt 23/6/15, WW1 served overseas with Welch Regt and MGC in rank of Captain, WW2 served with Welsh Regt in rank of Brigadier, awarded OBE 1/1/45, USA Bronze Star 8/11/45, with some copied details. His brother, Harold Auten was awarded the Victoria Cross in 1918 for action with the Q-Ship HMS Stock Force. BUYER MUST COLLECT OR ARRANGE OWN COURIER. (See photo) (Sword & R)
