A 19th century presentation half block model of the Green's Blackwall Line Frigate The 'Agamemnon', the plank and pinned hull with brown painted gunwale, opens ports with painted metal guns to lower deck, brass fittings, stern gallery and carved figurehead (hull missing copper below waterline), 141cm x 25cm, together with related research material. *Notes- The 'Agamamnon' was built in 1855 at the Blackwall Yards, London for the Green's Blackwall Line. She originally sailed the route to India until 1870 and subsequently the route to Australia until she was converted to a coal hulk in 1873. *Provenance- This model was presented to Edwin Weeks upon his retirement as private secretary to John Samuel White from John Samuel Whites Ship Builders in East Cowes, Isle of Wight. Before he passed away in 1902, Edwin Weeks passed the model to his granddaughter's husband,George Weeks, who was also a boat builder on the Isle of Wight. The model was then discovered by George Weeks granddaughter under a pile of hay in a barn in the 1960s and has remained in the family ever since.
