A late Georgian period Tunbridge ware sewing box depicting The Royal Suspension Chain Pier in Brighton. The hinged cover decorated with a hand coloured print inscribed ‘A View of the Pier during the Storm. Nov.r 23rd 1824’ opens to reveal a compartmented interior. The Royal Suspension Chain Pier in Brighton was opened on 25th November 1823 being one of the earliest piers in the United Kingdom and Brighton’s first pier. 12.8 cm length.
