A VERY RARE GEORGE III WEIGHT DRIVEN VERGE LONGCASE CLOCK, the mahogany case having a caddy pediment above a front and back glazed door with four turned pillars on a slender octagonal trunk raised on three cabriolet legs with brass casters, the 7 1/2" gilt brass dial having rococo spandrels and silvered chapter ring with concentric calendar surrounding a silvered scroll engraved centre fronting an eight-day weight driven movement with knopped pillars and verge escapement striking the hours on a bell. - Provenance.
