The German painter and graphic artist Georg Philipp Wörlen attended the school school in Nuremberg and learned from a church painter. Then he worked as a restorer in the Altheimer studio in Regensburg. In 1914 he moved to Marnheim as a secondary school teacher. His son Hanns Egon Wörlen was born during his front mission in the First World War. Georg Philipp Wörlen was spilled and wounded twice; Shortly before the end of the war, he was captured in British. There he met Franz Bronstert and Fritz Fuhrken, with whom he later founded the "rock". During this time, Wörlen found expressionism and cubism. After his return from captivity, Wörlen moved to Passau with his family and became art teacher at the Leopoldinum high school. Together with Franz Bronstert, Fritz Fuhrken and Reinhard Hilker, he founded the artist group "Der Fels", which organized over 30 exhibitions between 1920 and 1927. Carry Hauser joined this group a little later. The friendship between Wörlen and Hauser broke up around 1937 for political reasons. In 1923 and 1924, Wörlen was a member of the artist group of 6 and from 1927 to 1938 a member of the Hagenbund. In 1947 he joined the Danube Forest Group as a founding member.
